What Are Extended Stay Hotels?

August 31st, 2009

You may have heard the term “extended stay hotel” and thought that it sounded like a contradiction in terms. After all, hotels were created to give travelers a place to stay when they were far from home, not as a place to live. But what if your travels keep you far from home for a long period of time? Where are you supposed to stay then?

If your trip keeps you away from home for months, staying in a traditional hotel would get very expensive. Besides, just how long can a person live comfortably in a one or two rooms.

Hotel rooms are also not equipped with kitchens. In some you may find a microwave and a tiny kitchen, but nothing that would allow you to fix yourself a real meal. This leads to even more expense as you need to eat every meal in a restaurant.

Unfurnished apartments are not usually a viable option for the short term either. Most landlords want you to sign a lease of at least one year. In addition, you will have to wait while you go through the credit check and approval process. After all of that, you still need to furnish it and make sure that you have all of the linens, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, appliances, and on and on. It will take a great deal of money to make an unfurnished apartment into a place that you can live comfortably in for an extended period of time.

Extended stay hotels were developed to solve all of the problems that someone that needs to be away from home for a long period of time may face. Like a hotel room, they can be rented quickly and with out the hassle of an approval process. Like an unfurnished apartment, they give you the room you need to stretch out and be comfortable for a long time.

Better than either of those choices, rooms in extended stay hotels come equipped with everything you need to live a normal life. Most have a full kitchen complete with all appliances and utensils you would need to fix yourself a complete meal. The fact that there are several different rooms means that you can easily entertain, whether you want to have the guys over to watch the game or fix a special meal for yourself and that special someone.

Another advantage is that you will not need to worry about things like whether or not you have clean towels for your morning shower or clean sheets to make your bed with. If you want, most also provide maid service so that you will not even have to concern yourself with vacuuming or dusting.

Extended stay hotels provide the long term traveler with the comforts of home without the hassle of creating a home of your own. They will cost you more than an unfurnished apartment but they are much more convenient and if your stay is going to be less than a year, an unfurnished apartment simply may not be an option. So the next time you need to travel for a long period of time, rush for the closest extended stay hotel and save your time energy and money for the task that took you away from home in the first place.

Cambodia Travel - Exploring One of the Best Destinations in Asia on a Budget

August 31st, 2009

Traveling on your own or joining other travelers to soak in the sights and enjoy a historical tour of Cambodia and other interesting Asian destinations? Give in to the wanderlust in you and prepare for an educational and enjoyable trip to maximize the wonderful opportunity. Pack suitable apparel and don’t forget comfortable footwear. Since a focal point of your journey will be to see the breathtaking Angkor Wat and other treasures in the vast Angkor temple complex, you must have suitable footwear that will take you across the moat (which surrounds the famed Cambodian religious structure) to the temple. If you’re a first-time traveler, you may check out the internet for an overview of the numerous famous spots you will be trekking to.

At Siem Reap, be ready to be amazed by one of the most photogenic of the temples - Ta Prohm. It stands out amidst giant fig trees and other gigantic creepers ensconcing the stone foundations of the structure. An amazing showcase of architecture melding with nature, this is one of the scenic spots featured in the Tomb Raider movie. Also worth exploring are the many galleries with columns, pavilions, courtyards and ponds that give a reflection of the towering temple.

Besides Angkor Wat, there are small but attractive temples you will most likely see. Aside from the temples, be prepared to be mystified Phnom Penh (with its myriad cultural attractions and fine food, unspoiled countryside with rice paddies, little villages and lost temples all waiting to be explored); and on to Sihanoukville for more exotic food, and the opportunity to bask in some sun & sand; and Ban Lung where scenic spots and ethnic people beckon. You will be interacting with many charming and friendly locals and terrific Asian cuisine of excellent value. It will also be an opportune time to refresh and quench your thirst with Angkor beer, which is simply divine.

The Cambodian temples are six to 10 kilometers away from the Siem Reap town proper. If you’re traveling alone on a shoestring budget, there several bargain accommodations at Siem Reap offering a balance of comfort and value for money. There is one which is western-run and is conveniently close to Siem Reap River, and a few minutes’ drive from the airport and about seven kilometers from the Angkor Wat. Choose one which is a stone’s throw from the main shopping and dining areas of the Old Market and Pub Street as well as some fine waterfront restaurants. Phnom Penh likewise offers high standard hotels. Even with limited funds, a budget traveler can easily get by in Cambodia. The food prices are similar to or go even lower than in Thailand. Food from the street stalls is hygienic and delicious.

If you’ve arranged and booked yourself in advance and availed of a special packaged hotel rate online, you can proceed to enjoy the exotic surroundings, great facilities and services, plus the best that traditional Cambodian hospitality can offer.

Indeed, your Cambodia travel is a trip unlike any other, and from the Khmer ruins of Angkor Wat, you may wend your way into to other must-visit destinations that fall under the most fascinating world heritage sites.

Your Holidays in Malta

August 29th, 2009

Prior to going on your long deserved Malta holiday, it may be a good idea to do a little bit of research and check the island out before you get there.

If you are going to be venturing from a fairly far distance, say from the US, Canada or Australia, then your travelling times will most likely vary a lot.

For those of you that are going to be making the journey from within Europe, then you will probably find that you will get to the island in around three hours. That is if you are going to be flying, obviously going by sea will add quite a few extra hours on that time.

Although your holidays in Malta will be enjoyed no matter what language you speak, you will find it much easier to get around the island if you can speak English.

If you are wondering what your weather will be like when you arrive, it is going to be great for most of the year, although if you do not like it really hot, you would be best advised to maybe try either side of the summer months, when it is a bit milder.

The Islands of Malta situated in the central Mediterranean Sea have only three large islands that are inhabited, with Malta Island being the most popular. You will find sunshine almost all year long enabling enjoyment of the spectacular beaches, safe bathing bays, the Blue Grotto, and other outdoor life.

At the other extreme is touring historical artifacts that will greet you everywhere you look. Some archaeological sites are older than the Pyramids!

Approximately 7,000 years of history are still evident in the temples, fortified cities, museums with a wide variety of treasures, palaces, cathedrals, 364 churches, watchtowers, and unique villages. The old capital of Mdina is on one of the highest hills and is a medieval town.

Some of the awesome gardens stem from the days of being part of the grounds for palaces and the palatial homes of rulers and go back to the 1600’s. Many give a grand view of the Grand Harbour.

The capital city of Malta is Valletta, which is a World Heritage Site. Former palaces have been made into museums such as the National Museum of Archaeology with prehistoric collections going back to 5200 BC and including temple carvings, animal and human figurines and statuettes, pottery, and ornaments.

Explore the Grandmaster’s Palace Armoury Museum, which has full suits of armour, guns, and cannons from the 15th century.

The National Museum of Fine Arts features paintings and sculptures along with silverware and silver snuffboxes.

When you are taking your Malta holidays, there are many cultural events that occur year round, such as an International Jazz Festival, Opera Festival, Arts Festival, Christmas Pantomime, music concerts, bands, classical music, and performing arts at the 18rh century National Theater. Historical parades and multi-vision shows take you back in time.

If you are somewhat of a sporty type, you can find water sports, rock climbing, and hiking throughout the islands for those looking for healthy pursuits and exercising.

There are some nice local dishes that you should try, consisting of, rabbit stew, some lovely fresh fish dishes and if you like to experiment there are also some fine multicultural dishes.

A Romantic Dip in Spa Hotels

August 29th, 2009

The legacy of the spa dates back to Roman soldiers marching far afield, looking for a place to clean up and relax from their arduous and grimy endeavors. They discovered natural hot springs in many areas, and learned to make good use of them. Since those times the culture of the spa has evolved to truly dazzling heights.

Today, a spa is the place you go for relaxation and rejuvenation of body, mind and spirit. Not all of them boast a natural hot spring, but the focus is often on some form of hydrotherapy that includes at the very least a hot whirlpool bath - most of us know them as Jacuzzis. The idea behind the whole spa concept is to get away from the noise and rush of day-to-day living.

There is a wide range of choices when it comes to choosing a spa for your personal needs and preferences. From a single hot tub to a sprawling luxury resort, they are all called “spas”, but the differences can be pretty dramatic. One of the options which is becoming ever more attractive is the burgeoning number of spa hotels, now in virtually every corner of the world.

A spa hotel is not just a hotel-with-a-spa (which can mean nothing more than a hot tub in your room.) One great advantage of spa hotels is that the entire establishment is geared toward the comfort, relaxation and healing techniques associated with the original concept. The services are designed to let you detach from the rest of the world and be pampered and soothed in body and spirit.

The treatments and amenities in spa hotels worldwide vary endlessly, but most of the good ones offer massage in one or several of its forms as well as body wraps, facials, skin treatments and of course hot tubs and saunas. Many are devoted to physical wellness, offering ’spa cuisine’ in addition to traditional fare. Also in many cases the staff includes licensed professional physical therapists who are trained to locate and relieve the source of bodily ailments often caused by stress alone.

Hotels, by definition, are places for travelers to rest and refresh themselves. For business travelers especially, the spa hotel is an oasis of calm and comfort. They offer a chance to relax and re-invigorate both mind and body, step back and get a new perspective on the current situation, and return to the fray with new energy and clarity. The Romans had it right, don’t you know?

As noted before, spa hotels can be found almost anywhere a traveler, whether on business or pleasure, may choose to venture. The Internet has a wealth of information about location, amenities and prices, and it is wise to do a little research. Because of the very nature of today’s bustle and stress in all walks of life, the spa industry is constantly refining and improving its image. You won’t have to look far to find your personal Shangri La for a night, a weekend or a week, and the benefits to your overall health can be astounding.

Tim Hardaway regularly publish articles covering the travel industry on behalf of Lac Morency, who offers Forfait Laurentides.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-articles/a-romantic-dip-in-spa-hotels-1175475.html

Singles Cruise… No Age is Too Old!

August 28th, 2009

For single cruisers there are many activities and you will have the chance to interact with a variety of people to make new friends. Mostly singles prefer spending their vacation alone because they get privacy only while doing so. For those people who wish to enjoy the beautiful resorts and sun, tasting the rum punch, the Caribbean single cruise would be the right option.

The ultimate singles cruise. It’s a common scenario for single men and women who at first want to go on a single cruise to any destination in the world but forego doing so thinking that their ages may not be “appropriate” anymore to engage in such journeys. Contrary to this belief, there are actually several types of these trips that cater to specific age ranges no matter how young (at least older than 18 years old) or how old you are.

There are travel packages that are designed to allow you to meet with other singles within your age range. There you can participate in various activities and have fun together. Who knows what fate may bring you? You might even find your dream partner onboard. You have the option to choose a cruise for single individuals where you can join a trip together with people within your age group or you can opt for a multi-range age group so you can mingle with both the young and young-at-heart.

The following are some of the travel options available.

1. 20 to 30-year-old Age Range:

Since this is probably the most active of the age groups, the ship would be filled with several fun activities that can attract fairly young singles that are willing and able for non-stop partying. These activities may not be too appealing for other age groups. Whether your purpose is to find a serious partner or just want to have some clean fun, this age group would be for you.

2. 30 to 50-year-old Age Range:

Unlike the carefree style of the previous group, a single person beyond 30 would prefer a more subdued and well-planned itinerary of activities. Although there will still be parties, activities would be more focused in getting more acquainted with other single people. Even if you fail to find the perfect lifetime partner, this singles cruise range can help you find lifelong friends.

3. Over 50 Age Range:

Our society today is beyond the boundaries of age-ranges, no matter how old you are. Some in these age range may just be recuperating from a divorce and may be too paranoid to engage in another serious relationship. However, going on a cruise with this age group can wipe your fears away and allow you to open up once more to people of like situations and age ranges and meet friends or someone who would be more than friends.

4. Multi-ages:

Travel packages for singles of mixed age ranges are also available for people who do not want to be confined within their age range. For these people, age is not that big a deal in finding a perfect match.

Which ever tour you choose, a trip to Galapagos Islands is really expensive one. There are plenty of singles cruise tips available on websites for cruisers who never ever experience such immense traveling activity. For singles cruise it’s always better to remain relaxed and get acquainted with the others around them to enjoy.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-articles/singles-cruise-no-age-is-too-old-1173398.html

The Singles Cruise… How to Get the Ultimate Benefits!

August 28th, 2009

Have you ever thought about taking a singles cruise, if not just forget your age range and think again. For single having age more 18, there are plenty of activities available on singles cruises. Actually, these cruises designed for all age range in the book, where single people can meet and have fun. When you go as a single, you are a stranger to each one around you in your cruise but you will found that many people who want to make friendship with you. The various world cruise lines offer single cruises to exotic destinations all over the world.

Singles cruises… there are many misconceptions about singles cruises and the travelers who go onboard them. No, such cruises are not for single men or women. You can be married or engaged to be able to go on one. And no, the travelers who go on them are not friendless nor do they not have any family.

Travelers who go on singles cruise made a choice to do so. They prefer to travel alone because contrary to what many may think of, there can be great benefits of going solo. For one, there is more freedom in choosing activities to do during the cruise. If you book and sail on such a cruise, you will discover that you are basically responsible for your own adventures and fun.

If you are the adventurous type of traveler, you can go for adrenaline pumping shore and land excursions such as surfing. Or if you are the less adventurous type, you can just laze around on the beach or even on deck with a book on hand. Bottom-line is, you will be doing only those things that you prefer and love to do.

Secondly, you will be able to contemplate more on life. Even if you haven’t had any problems of late, contemplating can be a good thing to do. You will be able to appreciate the good things you have been doing and you will be able to pinpoint which areas you need to work more on. Or if you do yoga and other forms of meditation, the atmosphere on deck during the early hours can be conducive for such relaxation. So after your cruise, you will not only be physically rejuvenated but mentally and emotionally as well.

Singles cruises specifically welcome solo guests and design activities or events that will allow them to mingle with each other. So if you really are single going on a singles cruise, then you will have the chance to meet other solo guests and develop a one of a kind friendship. Who knows, one of them may even end up as your lifetime partner.

If you are a family person, then the least advantage you can get from this type of cruise is an extended time to relax: days or weeks from responsibilities and the busy life of raising a family. Almost all cruise lines have spas onboard, so you can choose from a number of treatments to enhance your body relaxation better.

Many singles prefer spending their vacation alone because the singles cruises offer a lot of activities to them, and singles also have an opportunity to identify their future partners. Ultimate singles cruise bring lot of excitement for visitors that is the reason it is becoming very popular, it’s also not very expensive to socialize with unknown people.Article Source:http://www.articlesbase.com/travel-articles/the-singles-cruise-how-to-get-the-ultimate-benefits-1173406.html
